the mentoring foundation.

Thatha Ithuba is a community of compassionate young individuals who believe in the power of people to shape the world positively. We focus on mentorship as a means to develop young individuals and communities, and invest in the future of young people from unprivileged backgrounds in South Africa. Our goal is not quantitative growth, but rather the quality of our program and the development of knowledge and skills in our mentors and mentees.

Through scholarships and training camps, we support our YOUNG mentors as their guide and empower young people to reach their full potential and make a difference in their community. At Thatha Ithuba, we believe that by investing in individuals, we can create a brighter future for all.

Our Mission

The mission of Thatha Ithuba is to find and develop future leaders in the Imizamo Yethu (IY) community in Hout Bay, through a process that focuses on self-development, people development, and community. We strive to empower individuals to explore and develop their own potential, while also supporting and developing the next generation of leaders in the IY community and the larger community as a whole.

Our goal is to create a positive impact on individuals, communities, and society through mentorship, knowledge transfer, and community engagement.

Thatha Ithuba was founded as an association in 2016 by Martin and Gina Hilzinger and has been a non-profit foundation since 2019.
